About Black Bull Biochar

Black Bull Biochar (BBB) is a growing UK company scaling the use of biochar, a carbon-rich material that improves soil health, livestock and crop resilience, all whilst removing carbon from the atmosphere. The company is entering an exciting expansion phase, growing its presence across Edinburgh, London, and Manchester, and building a team that will define the future of regenerative agriculture and carbon removal.

About the role

This is a pivotal role at the intersection of regenerative agriculture and commercial strategy. As Agriculture Manager, you’ll be the technical and relationship lead for BBB’s farmer-facing covering central and southern England.

You will:

  • Work as part of our Business Development and Agricultural team on customer-facing opportunities, sustainability projects, and agricultural research collaborations.
  • Advise farmers and landowners on regenerative practices, with biochar as a core component of wider farm transition plans.
  • Help BBB in shaping trials, feeding insights into product development, and influencing how regenerative agriculture scales in the UK.
  • Represent BBB as an agriculture expert at industry shows and events, driving interest and educating the market on new biochar products.

This role is ideal for those passionate about regenerative agriculture and improving agricultural sustainability. You’ll not only advise on biochar but also provide broader regenerative practice support, helping farmers to improve their crop nutrition and soil management.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support farmer and customer engagement including on-farm visits, consultancy sessions, and regenerative transition planning.
  • Deliver sound recommendations that enable landowners and customers to integrate biochar into wider regenerative practices to improve crop productivity and soil health.
  • Manage field trials and demonstrations, ensuring robust data collection and farmer feedback loops.
  • Collaborate as part of the Business Development team on customer partnerships and sustainability projects.
  • Represent BBB at industry events, trade shows, and sector bodies relevant to bedding and poultry markets.
  • Liaise with operations, marketing and production teams to ensure commercial commitments are deliverable as BBB scales its site capacity.

What we are looking for:

Essential:

  • Experience in agricultural sales across animal bedding, poultry, or related livestock supply sectors.
  • Confident commercial closer with experience in negotiation.
  • Deep sector credibility with understanding of how bedding products are made, what customers need, and how the supply chain works.
  • Strong relationship builder comfortable working with a variety of customer types.
  • UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Desirable:

  • Network of potential customer contacts.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and fast-changing priorities

What you will get from us:

  • A cross-cutting hands-on experience working in a purposeful, impact-driven, fast-paced start-up at the frontier of climate tech innovation.
  • The chance to grow and shape an organisation in its early stages.
  • Health insurance including dental, optical and mental health cover.
  • 25 days annual leave a year, not including bank holidays and the ability to remote work permanently for two weeks a year, and the option to buy back up to 5 days of annual leave.
  • Building a greener future where your work removes carbon, restores soil health, decarbonises energy and creates a lasting positive impact for generations to come.
